Description
Phaseolus coccineus
An early 19th century Heirloom, that according to SSE, was described by Friar Antonio De Arribida in Rio in 1827.
Painted Lady is well know, as much for its astonishing bi colour, coral red and creamy white-pink blooms, as for the superior beans produced. The pods grow to an impressive 20cm, are deliciously thick and meaty with a sweet balanced flavour. The plants can tolerate some heat and make a beautiful show in the garden.
The pods can be picked young and eaten fresh when juicy and tender. The dried beans have a rich chocolate and creamy coffee colour.
Standard packet contains approx. 25 seeds
